Workout Example To Get Anyone Started
We speak about adapting a lot of things around here, but what does that mean? We're writing our own workout today and thought this would be a perfect moment to debunk the myths holding people back from fitness. As an able-bodied individual, I’ll join a left arm amputee, a mid-para wheelchair user, proving that excuses don’t define your workout. Our plan? A challenging three-round workout of:
- 21 Double Unders
- 15 Deadlifts at 135#
- 9 Calories on an Air Bike
Of course, we're adapting with Equip Products’ gear to fit every body type. There is literally nothing standing in your way if you want to be fit, and we want to show you how here.
Breaking Down the Stigma
Too many avoid gyms or workouts, worried about judgment over age, weight, or limitations. Adaptive fitness changes that. It’s about smart tweaks to match your body, whether you’re 25 or 75, carrying extra weight, or facing an impairment, letting you begin where you are. No more excuses, just a path to progress.
The Three-Round Workout Breakdown
Here’s how we’re tackling today’s session, showing how anyone can dive into three rounds of this workout:
-
Able-Bodied:
- 21 double unders with a jump rope per round.
- 15 deadlifts at 135# per round.
- 9 calories on a Rogue® Echo Bike or Assault Bike per round.
-
Left Arm Amputee:
- 21 Equip Products Mono Rope Double Unders per round (a single aluminum pole with a longer cable) for one-arm cardio.
- 15 Aldridge Arm Deadlifts per round, using the Aldridge Arm for two points of contact.
- 7 calories on the air bike per round, adjusted for single-arm power.
-
Mid-Para Wheelchair User:
- 21 Multi Rope™ Double Unders per round, where every two ground hits count as a double-under, using the Multi Rope’s jump rope adaptations.
- 15 Kettlebell Deadlifts per round with two 53# kettlebells beside the wheelchair, lifted off the ground and returned to the floor to engage core and upper back.
- 9 calories on the bike per round with Equip Products Adaptive Bike Handles and an Echo Flip Mount or Assault Flip, rotating the monitor for tracking.
Adapting for Every Body
This three-round approach isn’t just for amputees or para-athletes. Older adults can use the Multi Ropes™ for low-impact cardio, easing joint stress across rounds. Overweight individuals might try seated Kettlebell Deadlifts from a stable chair to build strength without strain. For any impairment—arthritis, mobility limits, or more. Adaptive Bike Handles open up the equipment. With a little creativity and Equip Products’ tools, you can ditch the stigma and do anything, round after round.
Why This Works
These adaptations use familiar gym gear with simple adjustments, proving fitness isn’t out of reach. The Mono Rope, Multi Rope™, and Adaptive Bike Handles eliminate barriers, letting you focus on gains, not glances. Three rounds build endurance and confidence, whether you’re new or seasoned, turning hesitation into action.
