SDSU Lift-A-Thon Aztec Rec Center
On Saturday, November 15th, 2025, the Aztec Recreation Center at San Diego State University will come alive with strength, community, and inclusivity at the Fourth Annual Lift-A-Thon. This unique event isn’t just about weight lifted—it’s about lifting up adaptive athletics, empowering student athletes, and supporting programs that spotlight the abilities of adaptive athletes in all their strength and resilience.
What is the Lift-A-Thon?
The Lift-A-Thon challenges students and Aztec Recreation members to test their true strength in a series of lifting competitions, including the para bench press. With each rep, donations are made to support the SDSU Adapted Athletics Program, helping fund training, competitions, and the development of inclusive athletic opportunities. The result? Every rep literally makes a difference.
Equip Products and AJ Munoz-Bond
At Equip Products, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside AJ Munoz-Bond, who leads the way at SDSU Adapted Athletics. We first connected with AJ at a Move United Conference and were immediately struck by his passion, energy, and vision for adaptive sports. Over the years, AJ has become both a customer and a friend—always pushing forward opportunities for adaptive athletes.
His leadership has made events like the Lift-A-Thon possible, ensuring that adaptive athletes are not only included, but celebrated. Programs like these prove that adaptive sports aren’t “separate”—they’re integral to the fabric of athletics.
Why It Matters
The Lift-A-Thon is more than an event—it’s a symbol of how fitness can unite people of all abilities. By bringing together adaptive athletes, SDSU students, and the wider community, the event sends a clear message: strength is for everyone.
Equip Products proudly supports events like the Lift-A-Thon because they align perfectly with our mission: to design and provide adaptive equipment that helps people train, recover, and compete at their highest level.
