Equip Echo Flip Mount and This Years CrossFit Games
This year’s Adaptive CrossFit Games, held in Las Vegas from September 12–14, 2025, was one for the memory books. With so many stories and new lessons, we thought we should share a few. One of the highlights came on Day Two with a workout lovingly called “The Crucible.”
The Crucible Workout
For Max Weight in 5 Minutes
-
1 Deadlift
-
2 Hang Cleans
-
3 Jerks
Athletes could make as many attempts as they wanted within the 5-minute window. Then came a 1-minute transition, followed by:
-
1 Minute Max Calories on the Rogue Echo Bike
From an equipment standpoint, this workout seemed straightforward. As long as the equipment crew had the correct barbell on the floor, athletes would load their own weights—and the rest was up to them. But what happened next caught us by surprise and reminded us that there’s always room for improvement.
The Echo Flip in Action
At the end of the lifting stage, all athletes mounted their Rogue Echo Bikes. At the countdown, they had one minute to give everything they had. We at Equip have been supplying the Echo Flip Mount™—a newly patented addition to the Echo Bike—since 2022. While the patent was just awarded this year, the Echo Flip has been used at every adaptive event we’ve managed for the past three seasons.
Why does this matter? The Echo Flip allows seated and short-stature athletes to view their own monitor when using the bike from the front. It’s a simple concept with massive impact—especially in a competition that values personal accountability for every athlete, regardless of ability.
When Things Go Wrong
Even the best equipment faces real-world tests. During the Crucible, on three separate occasions, we had monitors disconnect—and in one case, a monitor went flying nearly ten feet from the bike after being accidentally kicked by an athlete mounting her chair. Let’s just say the moment got our attention.
I typically stay in the shadows during competition, ready to step in when needed. Every event organizer I’ve ever worked with is adamant about keeping things on schedule—not for themselves, but for the athletes, fans, and broadcast teams counting on that rhythm.
So when I saw that monitor on the floor, I ran out, picked it up, and reattached it to the Echo Flip. As I plugged the connector back in, the floor judge started the countdown: “3… 2… 1…” I secured the monitor, gave the athlete a nod, and she went full speed for the entire minute. If you’ve never ridden an Echo Bike at max effort for a full 60 seconds, I dare you. It’s brutal.
Lesson Learned—and a Better Design
That moment taught us something valuable. Even the strongest innovation can be improved. We went back to the shop and redesigned the Echo Flip’s interface, adding a redundant set of pins in the swivel section of the mount. That update ensures a secure connection—even under the most extreme competition conditions.
At Equip Products, our mission has always been to create adaptive fitness equipment that stands up to real-world use—by real athletes, under real pressure. The Crucible reminded us that innovation doesn’t end with a patent; it evolves with every lift, every pedal, and every lesson learned.
