Equip Products: A Pillar of Support at the CrossFit Games

Equip Products and The Crossfit Games

Since the inception of the CrossFit Games in Carson, California, in 2016, Equip Products has been a steadfast supporter of the CrossFit community, making a significant impact on adaptive fitness. Mark and Dana Harris, the driving force behind Equip Products, have dedicated themselves to ensuring that adaptive athletes have the equipment and support they need to compete at their best. From the early days in Carson to the vibrant competitions in Madison, Wisconsin, and now to the upcoming events in Fort Worth, Texas at the Dickies Arena, Equip Products has been there every step of the way.

A Legacy of Support

Equip Products made its debut at the CrossFit Games in 2016 in Carson, California. Mark and Dana Harris quickly became known for their dedication to adaptive fitness, providing custom equipment and support for athletes with disabilities. By 2018, Equip Products had solidified its presence at the Games, launching their activation with the help of the then CrossFit Store. This collaboration marked a significant milestone, showcasing several products designed to enhance the performance and safety of functional fitness and adaptive athletes.

Behind the Scenes Heroes

Over the years, Equip Products has been involved in numerous behind-the-scenes moments that highlight their commitment to the CrossFit community. One notable instance occurred in 2022 when adaptive athlete Xabier Osa broke his customized Mono-Rope during his first set of double-unders. Dana Harris, always prepared, had a replacement Mono Rope ready and within ten seconds, Xabier was back in the competition. This quick response exemplifies the dedication and readiness of Equip Products to support athletes in critical moments.

Another significant event involved adaptive athlete Amy Bream, who faced a challenge early in her career. During a heat, she was required to use a Concept2 bike but struggled to keep her prosthetic foot on the pedal. Her coach, Scooter, sought help from Equip Products. Dana and Mark quickly devised a solution using a small ankle strap to secure her foot. This innovation not only helped Amy but also led to the creation of a product that many lower limb amputee athletes now use to keep their prosthetic foot secure during workouts.

Building Inclusive Fitness Environments

Equip Products' commitment extends beyond immediate athlete support. In 2022, they were invited to arrive a week early to the CrossFit Games in Madison to help build the "Mock Affiliate." Their role was to ensure that the affiliate included adaptive products, reflecting what an inclusive gym should look like. They repeated this important work in 2023, further cementing their role in creating adaptive-friendly fitness environments.

Looking Forward: Fort Worth, Texas

This year, Equip Products will continue their tradition of support at the CrossFit Games in Fort Worth, Texas, at the Dickies Arena. They will set up their classic Equip Products booth, representing the Age Group and Adaptive CrossFit Games scheduled for later in August and mid-September. Visitors can stop by to see their range of products, buy apparel, and show their support for the adaptive community.
