Why Leg Protection & Secure Positioning Matter
For many veterans training from a seated position—especially those with limb loss or reduced sensation—lap/leg protection and stable positioning are essential. Our adaptive line reduces pressure, sliding, and impact so athletes can train confidently:
- LapMat™ & LapSecure™ Mat: cushioned lap protection for barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, and more; LapSecure has more surface area and can aid in a variety of functions, including initial physical therapy applications.
-
HandyMat™: A handy portable cushioned mat for ground transfers, working from the floor, and underneath the athlete while doing rope and ring exercises. -
Wheelchair Leg & Body Straps: secure positioning that will hold the legs during a bench press, sitting in the chair, ankles, legs, or any part of the body where the veteran needs a little support, with a soft strap designed for their specific use.
Veteran Spotlight: Jason Smith
Jason Smith, a U.S. Army veteran and double amputee, serves with Catch A Lift and competes in adaptive sports—including powerlifting. Jason trains with the Equip 50" Body Strap to stabilize his lower body during heavy attempts, helping him maintain consistent setup, bracing, and bar path while minimizing shear and slide on the bench.

How He Uses It
Set up stability: The 50" length provides wrap-around anchoring of his residual limbs around the bench, allowing him to engage his core and residual limbs to achieve his lifts.
Reduced movement: By securing his residual limbs, he no longer has to balance on the bench and can focus more on the lift itself, rather than expending a lot of energy to stay on the bench.
Confidence under load: Secure positioning lets him focus on technique and power output. Learn More about Wheelchair Straps Here:
